Migration and Integration

As one of the most populated states in Europe, Germany, as a traditional immigration country, plays an important and increasing role for the management of discrimination and integration. Exclusion and discrimination pose as a great obstacle for integration.

SOKO Institute has been conducting multiple empirical studies and research projects in this research area. A special focus lies with population surveys, as well as target group specific surveys of people with disability, migration background and experience with relocation in order to expand and strengthen, for example, the consulting services for refugees and immigrants.

The Federal Anti-Discrimination Unit (ADS) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs (BMWi) and Energy, besides others, commission the Institute. The Institute itself has implemented a study in cooperation with Bielefeld University to research living conditions and problems of male adult refugees in the ‘first-admission’ centers in Detmold and Bielefeld.
